with Nicholas Merchant of Aspect Events

Arrive Sunday 20th or Monday 21st and depart on Thursday 24th October 2013

Here at Baslow Hall we pride ourselves on bringing you some of the finer things in life. Our world-renowned cuisine, our comfortable, luxurious bedrooms and our setting in some of Derbyshire’s, indeed England’s, finest countryside.

This autumn we are looking forward to collaborating with Nicholas Merchant of Aspect Events for the second year to bring you visits to nearby country houses, which will go beyond the usual tramp-round-with-an audio-guide.

The party will be small, we do not rush, but aim to give you a chance to savour great treasures with like-minded people, and come home to Baslow to a warm bath, a gin and tonic, and a good dinner!

    What could be more civilised?

9.45 am Depart Baslow Hall by coach to Chatsworth

10.00 am Guided Tour of the house ahead of the general public. Chatsworth, needs no introduction to the British public, as its history is only matched by the way in which this magnificent collection has been adapted to the demands of the 21st century, having come perilously close to being dismembered in the 1950’s

12.00 noon Free time with the opportunity to either visit the gardens, or return to the house and its collections. Exhibition of Modern Makers in the New Gallery. This is a display of contemporary applied arts

Unique not just from an architectural point of view as it looms over the M1 motorway, but unique because of its contents and historical associations. Built as a “pleasure pavilion” the Little Castle was constructed for leisure and lavish entertainment.
