Fischer’s Baslow Hall enjoys an outstanding reputation for its cuisine, thanks to the dedication, hard work and vision of our gifted Head Chef, Rupert Rowley. All the awards and accolades are very gratifying, but Rupert cooks for the pride and the joy of knowing he and his team are creating perfect plates of food, not for the glory.
He is passionate about using the finest ingredients. His cooking style is rooted in classical French cuisine, and using those ingredients to produce exciting, innovative effects and flavours.
STATE OF THE ART
In 2014, we invested in a new, bespoke, state of the art kitchen, enabling Rupert and his team to push culinary boundaries with the latest cooking techniques and ingredients.
THE FINEST PRODUCE
Derbyshire and Yorkshire produce some of the very finest ingredients in England, and Rupert has built on Max’s fine foundations, retaining and building a strong network of superb suppliers, championing our local artisan producers.
Even Fischer’s hand-thrown pottery plates and dishes are individually made in Baslow and Sheffield.
THE KITCHEN TEAM
Our kitchen brigade is made up of eager, talented young chefs, relishing this opportunity to work and learn their craft alongside a visionary professional like Rupert. Guests at Fischer’s can glimpse the team hard at work through the kitchen windows as they walk to Reception.

An integral part of the new Fischer’s kitchen, the Tasting Bench offers the ultimate dining experience.
With front row seats in the centre of the kitchen, it offers a great view of our talented team as they create their award-winning dishes in this busy, professional environment.
And our guests even receive a little gift from the chefs after enjoying a special Taste of Britain tasting menu prepared in front of their eyes.
