Our hotel is a grade 2 listed Edwardian building, sadly we have no lift. We do have a disabled accessible entrance door close to the main Reception Entrance.
Guests are welcome to call or email to check our availability. We can send out information in larger fonts if preferred. The nearest mainline railway station is Chesterfield with accessible taxis available outside for the 20 minute journey to our hotel. We are about 4 miles from Bakewell and 6 miles from Matlock, where there is a branch line railway station. Both are easily accessible by bus. Shop mobility available on Wednesday in Bakewell and everyday in Chesterfield. Our accommodation is suitable for people with visual/hearing impairment who are accompanied. For accessible taxis we recommend AJAX based in Matlock. We strongly advise that all guests with a disability let us know before arrival.
Arrival & Car Parking Facilities
Guests are welcome to pull up directly in front of Reception but asked to park in the carpark. Porterage can be given to your room. The car park is a short walk of around 30 metres on tarmac.
Our lounge and dining rooms are all wheelchair accessible, however, we do not have wheelchair accessible toilet facilities. Toilets are reached by three shallow steps.
In the Hall we do not have any bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users as all bedrooms are on the 1st floor. Garden Rooms 2, 3, 4, & 5 are all on the ground floor and reached by a small step. Fire alarms are fitted in each bedroom. All bedrooms have remote control televisions. All rooms have a hospitality tray and Nespresso machines to make hot drinks. All bedrooms are carpeted and have wall and desk top lighting. We do not generally offer room service. We can work with any dietary requirements; these should be advised at time of booking.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC
Each bedroom has private en-suite facilities and has either a shower, a bath or shower over bath. Bathroom floors are tiled. There are no support rails in our bathrooms, however, baths in Granby and Longshaw and the walk in showers in Belvoir and the Garden Rooms do have a wall mounted grab rail.
Grounds and Gardens
Our garden is a mixture of grass and paved paths. Some of these are uneven. There is a paved terrace outside the lounge area which is reached by 5 steps, or by a gravel path around the house. In summer there is garden furniture out allowing guests to sit outside. At other times of the year there is no furniture.
Our fire assembly point is in the main car park. Guests with hearing, visual or mobility difficulties are asked to advise reception in case of an evacuation. The hotel is completely non-smoking. Rooms do not have fridges, but we are happy to store any medication.
