Taste Derbyshire is a new quality mark promoting the best possible standards in eating out across the county. This will only be awarded to businesses that offer an overall quality experience from the menu to staff knowledge and facilities, assessed by an independant ‘mystery shop’. It is the first scheme of its kind in the East Midlands and aims to encourage businesses ranging from take away shops to large hotels to offer quality service in key areas.

Head Chef Rupert Rowley was the proud recipient of the first-ever Taste Derbyshire accreditation to be awarded, at the scheme’s offical launch at Chatsworth last night (Wednesday September 29). “We are delighted to be the first restaurant to receive this new accreditation” said Rupert. “It is always rewarding to be acknowledged for our commitment to delivering high quality dishes using fantastic Derbyshire produce”.

Businesses achieving more than 80% receive a Highest Quality Assured Award, while those scoring 60-70% qualify for a Quality Assured Award. Fischer’s were awarded over 80%!

Taste Derbyshire assessments are being used in the judging process for Derbyshire County Council’s annual Food and Drink Awards. Shortlisted venues in the Restaurant of the Year, Best International Restaurant and Gastro Pub of the Year categories will receive Taste Derbyshire accreditation. Fischer’s won the Restaurant of the Year for 2008 and 2009.

As Max Fischer won Local Food Hero 2009, he has been involved in the Food and Drink Awards 2010 event by designing the menu, overseeing preparation and sourcing wines for the evening.
